Haleem is more than a thousand year-old
dish that has transcended several frontiers and cultures exclusively in
the Muslim world. It is
a common tradition of MQM to tribute martyrs of Karbala and
the martyrs of the movement by organizing prayers events and
serving Haleem during the month of
Moharram. Haleem feasting tradition was first started by MQM leader Altaf Hussain from
MQM headquarter Ninezero on small scale but now it has become
highly followed MQM’s culture all over the world whereever MQM
workers exists. Following the deeds
of their leader, MQM units/wings around the world organize
prayer events with Haleem feasting to keep this tradition alive.
In continuation to the party's tradition, a Haleem feasting was organized on December 26th, 2011 by MSRC Canada in collaboration
with MQM GTA Chapter in Toronto Canada. Large number of workers, supporters and office-bearers of MSRC
and MQM Canada (GTA) attended and enjoyed the social gathering.
Central Organizer, MQM Canada, Iqbal Qamar in his address highlighted the
history of Haleem feasting tradition of MQM
and its popularity. He also updated about the progress of registration process of non political wings
working under the MQM Canada. In-charge MSRC and Member COC Iqbal Bahadur Khan thanked
all the attendees for their
presence and informed that the committee is planning to organize this event on a larger scale next year.
Event culminated with dinner and Dua for martyrs of Karbala,
martyrs of the movement and the health of Quaid e Tehreek Altaf Hussain. |
