67th Independence Day of Pakistan
Colourful Celebrations by MQM Calgary Chapter
 
 
 
Communication & Media Cell, Calgry; August 17, 2014: Pakistanís 67th Independence Day was celebrated by Calgary chapter of MQM Canada with ultimate zeal and fervor. A very bright and colourful event was organized by the members of Chapter full of entertainment and leisure activities to revive the spirit of Independence Day, children and elders were dressed up in national dresses to take pride in our identity. A large number of MQM workers, office-bearers and their family members were present at the occasion. People of all genders and ages equally involved and made the event tasteful and memorable.

The Ceremony begun with the recitation from Holy Quran followed by Hamd and Naat. The key activities of the day included national songs, speeches, artwork competition, regional and cultural dress show from different areas of Pakistan, role plays, talent shows, quizzes and many more. A display of cultural crafts from different aspects of life was also prepared which was really appreciated by the attendees. Seniors expressed their views and shared stories of the Independence movement run under the great leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Some random attendees also expressed their views and congratulated Pakistani community on this happy occasion.

Over all it was a fun filled day with a lot of mingling and learning. Speakers congratulated the attendees on the Independence Day and appreciated organizers on presenting such a joyful and creative event. Member of Central Organizing Committee and In-charge Gehwara-e-Adab Canada, Shahid Raza Khan distributed prizes to the key performers and certificates of excellence to the organizers/stage runners of the event. He said that MQM is known for its creativeness and todayís event is one example of it. He said that MQM Canada always provides platform to the Pakistani Diaspora community to come closer and re-establish their network. Events like these are source of mingling, releasing stress and bring few happy moments in our lives. These healthy events can give our youth an opportunity to mix with elders and participate equally and show their patriotism. Organizers and youth in fact deserve huge appreciation for making a unique event for us to express our love for Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is one of the greatest country on the face of earth, it is our identity and we should be proud of it. He said MQM Canada is committed to bring more colourful public events in coming months. He urged Pakistani community specially youth to come forward and become part of future events of MQM Canada.

A beautiful cake was exclusively prepared with Pakistani flag colours. Men, women and children participated in cake cutting ceremony which concluded with huge clapping, chanting and famous national songs.
