MQM Canada's Open Forumn "Pak-Indian Relations, Feudal System & MQM"
MQM believes in Pak-India friendship and regional cooperation...Haider Rizvi
Canada, Feb 03, 04: MQM's Central Coordination Committee Member & Member National Assembly Haider Rizvi has reiterated MQM's stand on good Pak-Indian relations. Speaking at an "Open Forum" organized by MQM Canada he told the audience that MQM firmly believes on the cordial relationship between Pakistan and India. MQM realizes the need for regional cooperation and bilateral trade ties to improve the lives of the millions of poverty stricken people of the region. Only peace could pave way for the promising future of both countries. Speaking about the archaic feudal system of Pakistan he said that it is a pathetic fact that Pakistan is still bounded in backward rituals & traditions. Even in this day and age women are being killed in the name of honor. Illegal feudal courts can issue orders to gang rape innocent women and death sentences for marrying out of their will. When one tries to raise any voice against such dogmatic traditions then they call it an attack on their civilization. MQM do not recognize such practices as part of civilization and would continue to struggle against such barbaric customs until the total abolition of Feudal system.
Former ambassador & renowned intellectual Mr. Karamat Ghori while speaking at the occasion noted that world has been passing through aggressive changes and Pakistan has taken a prominent role in the present day scenario. He stressed the need for Indo-Pak relations. He also pointed out that MQM may be the only force struggling against Fedual system in Pakistan and only way out for Pakistan is to promote and strengthen MQM's middle class struggle.
Noted Community Activist Mr. Tarek Fateh, Senior Journalist Latafat Siddiqui, Canadian Lawyer & Politician Ali Naqvi, MQM Canada's Incharge Dr. Syed Ali also presented their views on the topic. Convener Gehwara-e-Adab & Director of Writers Forum Munir Saami acted as a Moderator of the forum. Large number of people including community activists, intellectuals & local media attended the event. Speakers unanimously agreed on the importance of good Pak-India Relations & measures like opening of Khokhrapar border, resolution of Kashmir issue and bilateral trade between India & Pakistan. MQM's visiting Parliamentarian, Member of MQM's Central Coordination Committee & Diplomatic Committee Mr. Haider Rizvi summed up the discussion with MQM's view point on the issues and later answered the questions of the forum participants. At the end MQM Canada's Central Organizer Aamir Waheed thanked the speakers and audience for participating in the forum and stressed the need for more similar dialogues on present day issues.
