MQM Canada presented $6000 to the Canadian Red Cross Society as part of its Tsunami Relief Campaign
Feb 28, Toronto: MQM Canada handed out a sum of $6000 to Canadian Red Cross Society as part of its Tsunami Awareness Campaign. It is to be remembered that MQM Canada has launched a Canada wide Tsunami Awareness Campaign right after the tragic events in Asia. The campaign included various events to show the support & solidarity with the victims. MQM Canada also ventured a collection campaign on behalf of Canadian Red Cross Society which included stalls at various local ethnic stores and door to door collection.
The collected amount was presented to Canadian Red Cross Officer Ms. Svetlana Ageeva of International / RespectEd Services Division of the Agency. Present at the occasion were MQM Canada's Caretaker Dr. Syed Ali, Central Organizer Aamir Waheed, Toronto Unit Incharge Munawwar Hameed and Toronto Unit Worker Shahid Raza.
MQM Canada's Central Organizer Aamir Waheed briefed Ms. Ageeva about the details of the MQM's Global Campaign for Tsunami victims and reassured her of continuous support to Canadian Red Cross. He further stated that MQM Canada admires & support the humanitarian work that Canadian Red Cross is engaged in on a global level and would continue to lend a helping hand in future projects. He also reminded Ms. Ageeva about the recent calamity in various regions of Pakistan due to floods and torrential rains and the relief work that MQM is undertaking to help the victims in the region. Ms. Ageeva assured the MQM Delegation that an appeal is already made for the calamity and Red Cross would extend its relief work in those regions.
At the end Ms. Ageeva appreciated the efforts of MQM Canada, specifically the organized methodology that it has devised to carry out the awareness campaign and raising the funds.
MQM Canada has thanked local South Asian Community specially Pakistani Canadian Community for supporting it's campaign and donating in the great humanitarian cause.
